Verse 50-51 “Ye that have escaped the sword, go away, stand not still: remember the LORD afar off, and let Jerusalem come into your mind. We are confounded, because we have heard reproach: shame hath covered our faces: for strangers are come into the sanctuaries of the LORD's house.”
It mentions those who have escaped the sword. As already discussed and seen in the Scriptures, it will be the Muslims who come against the land. They come literally with sword in hand to behead people. This is their means of execution. This is why in Revelation it is those who were beheaded for their witness that are seen coming out of the tribulation. Revelation 20:4 “And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshiped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.” Those who have escaped are to leave Babylon and think of Jerusalem. As mentioned in an earlier passage, God wants those who survive to go to Jerusalem. That will be His point of return and He wants His people there. The people are ashamed, for they know the Lord's house has been desecrated. They let it happen a second time, because they were not listening to the Lord.
Verse 52 – 56 “Wherefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will do judgment upon her graven images: and through all her land the wounded shall groan. Though Babylon should mount up to heaven, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from me shall spoilers come unto her, saith the LORD. A sound of a cry cometh from Babylon, and great destruction from the land of the Chaldeans:Because the LORD hath spoiled Babylon, and destroyed out of her the great voice; when her waves do roar like great waters, a noise of their voice is uttered: Because the spoiler is come upon her, even upon Babylon, and her mighty men are taken, every one of their bows is broken: for the LORD God of recompences shall surely requite.”
God again mentioned Babylon's graven images. She is a nation of intense idolatry. Throughout the length and breadth of the land her wounded will be groaning in death. Now we see a reference that clearly is for our time. Though she should go up to heaven (outer space) and fortify her strength (put up military satellites) yet God will send people to spoil or plunder and destroy her. There will be a great outcry when Babylon is taken. The destruction will be very, very great, in fact permanent. He destroys her great voice. Indeed, America has a loud voice in the world, although her voice may be dimming as time goes by. Even the waves surrounding Babylon are roaring. The rulers and military men are taken. Their weapons are useless, because God is taking vengeance upon her to recompense her for what she has done to Him, His temple, and His people.
Hi there Connie! I was searching for a site on Ezekiel 21 being in the 2011 year and right now in fulfillment. I came across your blog and was thrilled when I first read that you also believe that Babylon is America Jer. 50-51. Your blog is interesting to read, but I don't see any mention of Hebrew word studies in your research of scripture. Is there a reason you don't do this in your studies? I personally have found it to be essential in understanding the Word from God's mysterious perspective anyway.
ReplyDeleteI do go into my Hebrew and Greek when I am struggling with understanding a passage or words, but I don't always put it in the post unless I find it really necessary to explain something. There is always so much to say and so little time to say it that unless I feel it really important to explain a word, I don't bother writing all the definition and explanations down. Maybe I should consider doing it more often. Most people aren't that deep into it to get off into it. I'm glad you are. Please feel free to add comments or if you think I've missed something. this was originally intended as a Bible study between me and my distant friends, but they've kind of fallen off and I noticed others were reading, but nobody ever comments. Well, I should say nobody has commented in a long while. I got some really nasty stuff at the beginning and some really disagree with my viewpoint, but they apparently got fed up and quit reading. I'm glad for some dialogue. You might find me going into more explanations of words back at the beginning. I did start this in Genesis and it is a chronological study so you might find that helpful.
ReplyDeleteThat part of revelations is a vivid description of Babylon. Even the geographical characteristics were very obvious.
